Monday, May 4th, 2009加薪 jiaxin - augmentation du salaire / salary increase
Unlike Canada and the USA, many countries observed Labour Day on May 1st. Given the bad times with the financial crisis, rights of working class who built the world economies matter more than ever before.
Warhol on Mao?
Monday, April 27th, 2009What? on the streets of Shanghai in 2009? No, we did not resurrect Andy to do a replica. This is just another mélange of art + commercialism + globalisation, as seen in a touristy area.
Quoi?

tuya - niu b
Sunday, April 19th, 2009牛B (adjective) - niu b
It means awesome, fierce, powerful, etc. - but it’s a vulgar expression since “b” is an euphemism for sex organ. In other words, N.B. that you don’t use N.B. at work!
tuya - happy family
Don’t ask me why the profanity came along for the joyride if the three chinese characters translated loosely as happy family or a family portrait.
tuya: fire!

tuya - we luv Tai Po
Monday, March 16th, 2009How could I not love Tai Po (大埔) district in Hong Kong? It is less densely populated than Kowloon or Hong Kong Island. It boasts the largest park managed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department as well as a rapidly expanding science park. True to the Hong Kong spirit, both “parks” are located on land reclaimed from sea. Speaking of sea, Tai Po also has the world’s first “reservoir in the ocean”, Plover Cove, which has the longest dam in Hong Kong measuring 2km.
