Guangzhou civilisé
Monday, June 8th, 2009La beauté avec les idéogrammes chinois demeure la facilité de les transformer au dessin ou motif sans souci. L’exemple qui suit est créé par la ville de Guangzhou. Mot par mot, les caractères 文明 廣州 s’expriment:
文明 wen ming - c’est-à-dire civilisé
廣州 Guangzhou
Il suffit d’un petit peu de votre imagination visuelle pour interpreter d’autres messages portant dans ce panneau d’affichage.

Monday, June 1st, 2009
You got a couple of long haired chaps riding around the streets of LA in an ice cream truck spreading the good word like it might have been a bus packed with all the good sounds of olden day and future time Jamaica. Black Shakespeare is the name of the thing. Capital D destiny…

Monday, May 25th, 2009school bag
Nostalgia 1970s, when things were still “made in Hong Kong”. This is an ad for a “school bag”, which is more like a briefcase, as seen in Hong Kong Museum of History. Don’t underestimate plastics. Li, Ka Shing, the richest man in Hong Kong, started his empire with a plastic manufacturing factory!
Google Maps Alphabet Revisited
Saturday, May 16th, 2009Following up on my previous post, I just found out thanks to our friend Matt Soar, about a very similar and earlier project called GeoGreeting.
This interactive app allows you to type any message and localize each letter on a world map, then send the message to a friend. As the site tagline says “GeoGreeting …how geeks show they care“.

Sign Language — Five Roses
Thursday, May 14th, 2009For those that don’t know, the Farine (flour) Five Roses sign is a towering behemoth of typography that floats over the near city center skyline of Montreal. It is putting it lightly to say that it is a fixture in the identity of the city. It has become more like the very language of the city.
Love it or hate it, the sign’s been part of the Montréal skyline for over sixty years, and sadly probably won’t be around much longer. Local designer and intermedia artist Matt Soar has just launched a participatory art project all about the Farine Five Roses sign at <www.farinefiveroses.ca>.
Berlin street art on your iPhone
Sunday, May 10th, 2009Adidas recently launched its Urban Art Guide to Berlin, a slick interactive gallery dedicated to the city’s best urban art and graffiti. Users can also download the free iPhone app which features a Google map interface, city tours and the possibility to find the closest art pieces in your viscinity using the phone’s geo-positionning capability when you are walking around the city. A very cool cousin application of CitySPK that might spread to other cities after the German capital.
