TK: veut voyager et travailler partout du monde. Quand il a de temps libre, apprendre des langues étrangères est son passe-temps favori. Son rêve est de se déplacer chaque an ou deux, dans un nouvel endroit en oeuvrant comme pigiste. Lire son blogue ici. tuya - stupid

Who tagged above? It is right outside a construction site in Guangzhou (also known as Canton in the past) , a city in Southeastern China. Was it someone fed up with rapid urban redevelopment? A common scenary in many major cities in China is the leveling of huge city blocks replacing them with highrises. The “pockets” that temporarily survive become “villages in a city” or cheng zhong cun (城中村). These areas are at times the synonym of ghettos. Can that be a better model of (non) development? Are there alternatives?

I dunno if yin and yan were equally represented since I did not check the washroom of the opposite sex.

Je n’ai pas vérifié si yin et yan sont représentés egalement dans les toilettes des deux sexes.

加薪 jiaxin - augmentation du salaire / salary increase

Dehors du Canada et des États-Unis, plusieurs pays ont observé la fête du travail le 1er mai. Dans un mauvais temps avec la crise financière, les droits des ouvriers qui ont bâti les économies du monde sont plus importants que jamais.

Unlike Canada and the USA, many countries observed Labour Day on May 1st. Given the bad times with the financial crisis, rights of working class who built the world economies matter more than ever before.

牛B (adjective) - niu b

niu (noun): ox / boeuf
牛B / niu-b

Il veut dire féroce, puissant, fort, super, etc. - sauf que c’est une expression vulgaire car “b” est un euphémisme d’organe sexuel. Alors, N.B. que vous n’utilisez pas N.B. au travail!

It means awesome, fierce, powerful, etc. - but it’s a vulgar expression since “b” is an euphemism for sex organ. In other words, N.B. that you don’t use N.B. at work!

全家福 happy family
全家福 (quan jia fu)

Si les trois caractères signifient: portrait de famille, une famille heureuse, etc., ne me demandez pourquoi la vulgarité s’est installé.

Don’t ask me why the profanity came along for the joyride if the three chinese characters translated loosely as happy family or a family portrait.

weLuvTaiPo

How could I not love Tai Po (大埔) district in Hong Kong? It is less densely populated than Kowloon or Hong Kong Island. It boasts the largest park managed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department as well as a rapidly expanding science park. True to the Hong Kong spirit, both “parks” are located on land reclaimed from sea. Speaking of sea, Tai Po also has the world’s first “reservoir in the ocean”, Plover Cove, which has the longest dam in Hong Kong measuring 2km.
